We create communication design that everyone understands

Our story

The story of PIKTUU began in 2015, when Berlin photographer Alexander Mechow recognized the challenges of communication for arriving refugees. He and his friends developed a comprehensive pictogram language to enable quick and easy communication. After several years of development and practical testing, PIKTUU was officially launched online in December 2023.

Our Mission

Our mission is to enable communication, regardless of language, culture or background. We believe in a world in which everyone is heard and can express themselves freely. For us, PIKTUU means more than communication design. For us, PIKTUU is a language that everyone can speak and understand, without words.

How PIKTUU works

PIKTUU offers an extensive collection of pictograms sorted by life situations. Whether in healthcare, everyday needs or emergency situations – our pictograms make it easy to communicate non-verbally.

Our vision

Our vision is a world in which communication is easy and accessible for everyone. We are committed to integration, inclusion and peaceful coexistence and are constantly working to improve and expand our tool.

LAYOUT

Print, web, one page, many pages. METAFEX puts the finishing touches to the layout so that PIKTUU is not only useful, but also pleasing to the eye and the information is structured so that others can understand it. We are delighted to be part of the PIKTUU family and to support this project.
